Two space shuttle-era spacewalkers enter Astronaut Hall of Fame

Tom Akers and Joe Tanner were inducted into the US Astronaut Hall of Fame at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida.

NASA astronauts Brian Duffy and Chris Ferguson served as their inductors during the ceremony.

The honor recognized both men’s extensive spacewalking careers and their work on Hubble repair and International Space Station assembly.

The induction highlights the lasting importance of EVA expertise and astronaut mentoring in NASA’s legacy.
