Sony Xperia 1 VIII leak shows square camera island, bigger telephoto sensor

Leaked renderings show the Xperia 1 VIII with a square rear camera island instead of the series' vertical layout.

Industry sources say Sony plans to equip the next model with a larger telephoto sensor than the Xperia 1 VII.

The Xperia 1 VII currently uses a roughly 1/3.5-inch telephoto sensor while competitors use around 1/1.4-inch sensors.

Previous Xperia 1 models launched at high prices in Europe, and the new model is expected in 2026.
