MSI Refused a Customer’s $6,000 Gaming Laptop Motherboard Replacement, Saying It “Would Cost More Than Purchasing a New Unit”

A warranty dispute has surfaced over an MSI Raider GE77HX 12UHS gaming laptop with a motherboard fault.

A Reddit user said MSI initially labeled the unit beyond economical repair because the fix would cost more than a new laptop.

After the case was escalated to MSI Global Service Management, the customer was told official repair had been available at the time.

Once the warranty had expired, MSI reportedly quoted $1,800 for the motherboard replacement, fueling criticism of after-sales support.
