Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins wants data centers in space

Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins said the company is preparing technology for data centers in space and has discussed the idea for months.

He cited unlimited solar power and reduced cooling mass in orbit as potential advantages but said many technical conditions must be evaluated.

Robbins noted SpaceX's large-satellite plans and said Cisco continues to build networking gear for terrestrial AI data centers.

He also said he believes current AI enthusiasm resembles a bubble, referencing past dot-com experience.
