Moonshot on iPhone: Astronaut Reid Wiseman snaps unbelievable photo of the lunar surface

During Artemis II's final approach, Commander Reid Wiseman showed a lunar surface photo he took on an iPhone 17 Pro Max during the mission livestream.

NASA permitted the Artemis II crew to carry current smartphones and the mission carried four iPhone 17 Pro Max units alongside other cameras.

Wiseman said he used 8x zoom and Mission Control identified the image as showing the Chebyshev crater; the crew was sending photos back to Earth after the flyby.
