NASA Sends Humans Beyond Earth Orbit For First Time Since 1972

NASA's Artemis II performed a translunar injection burn on April 2 to send Orion toward the Moon.

Orion separated from the ICPS and the stage re-entered over the Pacific after releasing four CubeSats.

The crew will reach the Moon on mission day six and travel about 4,600 nautical miles beyond the lunar far side before returning on April 10.
