Ireland is testing a digital wallet that verifies social media users' ages

Ireland is trialing a Government Digital Wallet ahead of a public launch later this year.

The wallet can store digital birth certificates, driving licences, European health cards and other IDs.

The pilot is opt-in, includes a public survey, and officials say testing will guide development.

An EU rule requires member states to provide a digital wallet by the end of 2026.
