Google Responds As 50 Apps With 2 Million Downloads Hit By Malware

McAfee Labs published a report saying 50 Android apps on Google Play were infected with a new malware called NoVoice.

The infected apps, including galleries, games and utilities, had more than 2.3 million combined downloads.

McAfee said the malware profiles devices and downloads root exploits, but those exploits target vulnerabilities patched between 2016 and 2021.

Google said devices updated since May 2021 are protected and that Play Protect removes and blocks the malicious apps.
