Claude Opus 5 approaches Fable for half the price

Anthropic launched Claude Opus 5 across its products, pricing it like Opus 4.8 while placing it between Sonnet 5 and Fable 5.

The company says Claude Opus 5 matches Fable 5 closely overall and performs better on coding and knowledge-work benchmarks.

Claude Opus 5 is now available on Claude Max and Claude Pro, with new beta API features for developers.

The launch gives users and enterprises a lower-cost high-end model with strong coding performance and different privacy/deployment tradeoffs than Fable 5.
