US strengthens advanced nuclear fuel supply with TRISO and HALEU initiatives

The U.S. NRC allowed Framatome’s Richland site to produce TRISO fuel and raise its enrichment ceiling.

The approval strengthens domestic capacity for specialized fuels used in advanced reactors.

Lightbridge and Quadrant Nuclear Industries also signed an agreement to explore future HALEU supply.

Together, the moves help build a more secure U.S. advanced nuclear fuel supply chain and reduce future supply uncertainty.
