Tencent's Self-Developed Canghai V2 Chip Enters Mass Production, Topping MSU Hardware Encoding Rankings

Tencent Cloud said its self-developed Canghai video encoding chips ranked first in MSU hardware encoding tests across speed tiers and quality metrics.

The newer Canghai V2 has now entered mass production and will be used for enterprise deployment through Tencent’s media services.

The chips are designed to improve H.265 and H.266 compression efficiency for streaming, cloud gaming, and media processing.

Tencent says the technology could cut bandwidth and storage costs while improving performance at scale.
