OpenAI adopts C2PA standard and Google SynthID…applies an indelible watermark

OpenAI will add C2PA metadata to its AI-generated images and pair it with Google’s invisible SynthID watermarking.

The company also plans to release a verification tool so users can check whether an image was AI-generated.

The move is aimed at reducing image forgery and tampering while improving content provenance, trust, and transparency.
