With iOS 27, Apple will finally let you try other casting options beyond AirPlay

Apple is reportedly preparing iOS 27 to let EU users choose third-party wireless casting services as the default for media streaming.

That could allow alternatives like Google Cast to replace or sit alongside AirPlay on iPhone and iPad in the EU.

The move appears tied to Apple’s compliance with the EU’s Digital Markets Act, which aims to open up closed platform features.

Apple is also still facing disputes with EU regulators over App Store rules and marketplace fees.
