The hottest indie game on Steam just had a malware scare

A Steam Workshop map for Meccha Chameleon was found abusing Unreal Engine Blueprint logic to drop a batch file and launch hidden PowerShell.

The map tried to fetch additional code from an external server, but the second-stage payload was not recovered during analysis.

The malicious community map was removed and the issue was patched, but the incident raised malware concerns.

The risk is significant because Workshop content can be auto-downloaded and Meccha Chameleon has a large player base.
