Scientists built a chip that works in temperatures hotter than lava

Researchers at the University of Southern California published a study showing a memory chip that functions at 700°C.

The chip uses tungsten, a thin ceramic layer, and graphene, with graphene preventing metal penetration that causes shorts.

The device ran without failure up to 700°C, which was the limit of the testing setup.

Researches said the discovery was accidental and a commercial product remains years away.
