Judge says Trump admin still lacks evidence for Anthropic ‘supply-chain risk’ label

A federal judge said the Trump administration has not shown enough evidence to justify branding Anthropic a supply-chain risk or banning its technology.

U.S. District Judge Rita Lin questioned the government’s claims in a Defense Department contract dispute over military uses of Anthropic’s tools.

Lin is considering making her earlier temporary block permanent, after noting the government also failed to support concerns that Anthropic could alter models during wartime.

The case could curb the government’s ability to blacklist AI vendors without strong evidence and shape future federal contractor challenges.
