Trump administration plans to cut cybersecurity agency’s budget by $700 million

The Trump administration proposed cutting CISA's budget by at least $707 million in its 2027 omnibus proposal.

If approved, CISA's operating budget would drop to about $2 billion and some programs deemed duplicative would be removed.

CISA has lost hundreds of employees after a year of cuts, and the agency still lacks a Senate-confirmed permanent director.

The administration said the cuts would refocus CISA on securing federal civilian networks and protecting critical infrastructure.
