Rumor has it OpenAI is building an agentic AI smartphone

OpenAI is reportedly developing an AI-first smartphone built around AI agents rather than traditional apps.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the device may use MediaTek and Qualcomm chips and be manufactured by Luxshare.

Production is not expected until 2028, and the phone would pair on-device context-aware AI with cloud processing.

The project would mark a major move beyond software into consumer hardware, with the goal of testing agent-driven mobile computing.
