Enthusiast builds his own RAM in garden shed cleanroom — fledgling array of memory cells groundwork for much larger future project

Dr. Semiconductor built a class-100 shed cleanroom and fabricated a small array of DRAM cells at home.

He used basic semiconductor steps like oxidation, photolithography, etching, doping, annealing, and metallization.

Using micromanipulator probes, he tested the chips and reported usable capacitance from the memory cells.

He says the demo is a foundation for a larger RAM array that could eventually interface with a PC.

The DIY milestone comes as AI-driven demand is tightening RAM supply and pushing prices higher.
