The Netherlands blocks a US company from buying the app Dutch citizens use for everything

The Netherlands has blocked Kyndryl’s planned acquisition of Dutch cloud provider Solvinity over security concerns.

Officials said the deal could reduce control over sensitive cloud services that support DigiD and other public systems.

The government framed the move as a public-interest and security decision, not a nationality-based one.

Kyndryl criticized the ban as political, while the case highlights Europe’s tighter scrutiny of cloud and digital infrastructure deals.
