Claude subscriptions get separate budgets for programmatic use, billed at full API prices

Anthropic will separate Claude subscription billing for interactive and programmatic use starting June 15.

Programmatic use across the Agent SDK, claude -p, Claude Code GitHub Actions, and third-party apps will draw from new monthly credits.

Those credits reset each billing cycle, vary by plan, and are charged at full API rates.

Once the credits are used up, subscribers can optionally buy extra Usage Credits.

The change ends subsidized flat-rate usage for heavy developer workflows and could raise costs for tools and power users.
